Video editing programs come with a tradeoff. The ones with more functionality are difficulty to use, however they provide superior features for the advanced user. For beginners, videos can easily be linked sequentially with free applications like iMovie. Thereafter, you can narrate the audio over the edited video track.
What is the best video editing program for advanced users?
For advanced users, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere offer superior features for complete output control. Final Cut Pro is offered at a full price bundle on the Apple App Store. Adobe Premiere is available by monthly subscription within the Creative Suite of Adobe.
What is the best video output setting?

Is it required to have a video of the subject explaining the procedure?
No - You are allowed to simply narrate the video of the surgical procedure.
Can I use the onboard microphone of the camera to record narration?
No - Video of an interview using audio from the onboard camera microphone is strictly prohibited due to its severely poor quality.

If you do not have access to a remote microphone, simply provide video of your procedure with overlay audio using handheld microphone/iphone.
What microphone do you recommend for interview style recording?
Lavalier micrphones allow discrete clip-on to a lapelle or scrubs. Take care to hide the cord under clothing.
What microphone do you recommend for simply overlaying audio on intraop video?
You can simply use your laptop microphone or mobile phone to record the audio and overlay onto your video using your editing software. Of course, we prefer a professional microphone, but it is the proximity of the face to the microphone that makes the biggest impact on final audio quality.
Do you offer a video editing service?
Only after you have submitted your video may a video be eligible for our video editing service. This is only for sepecial circumstances. Exceptional research content with exceptional intraoperative footage, which is only poor in its editing, may be remastered by our video professionals on a case by case basis.
Can I include powerpoint slides?
Yes - the discussion portion of your video is encouraged to have a bulleted summary of your talking points. Essentially, antytime you are talking and it is not related to an intraoperative video should have bullet points on the screen?
How much does it cost to submit to your journal?
At the prsenent time, there is no article processing fee. Donations currently support the journal in its entirety.
What are your copyright terms?
This is an open access journal. Authors retain copyright, but allow this journal to indefinitely use this content without restriction. Please see our legal page for more information.
How long does it take to review articles?
Generally you will receive a decision within 4 weeks.
Do I have to create an author account to submit video?
Yes - our electronic submisison systems requires you to create an account so that your publicaiton can be tracked throughout the editing process, eg revisions and resubmissions.
How do I include references?
You will copy and paste your refrence list into a textbook on our electronic submisison system. Alternatively, you can attach as a document file. Additionally, we encourage you to reference sources in small font at the bototm of the screen as it relates to the content on the screen.
Can I obtain CD-ROM or DVD or electonic files of other films?
